Jim Maca, of Columbus, formerly of Davenport, IA, died April 21st, 2012, at Bergen Mercy Medical Center in Omaha.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthonys Church in Columbus with the Rev. Del Lape officiating. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery in Columbus.Visitation will be 5-7:00 p.m. at McKown Funeral Home, with a rosary at 7:00 p.m.

James Jimmy Maca was born August 23, 1957, in Omaha to Louis and Irene (Hughes) Maca. He attended elementary and junior high school in Moline, Illinois and graduated from Columbus High School in 1975.
Jim got his first job when he was 9 delivering papers and had at least one job for nearly all the rest of his life. He was a hard worker and enjoyed earning money. He was a heavy equipment operator before being paralyzed in a car accident in 1985. After that he attended college and continued to work in different office jobs.
Jim loved his family, especially his son and granddaughters. They were the light of his life. He moved back to Columbus in 2010 so he could help take care of his Mom, and spend time with his brother Carl, while he finished his fight with cancer. One of his great sorrows was being hospitalized and unable to attend Carls funeral.
In addition to family and work, Jim was a meticulous organizer and planner. He would have loved to be the next American Picker. He had started on his new career path last summer, stopping at many garage sales to scope out the hidden treasures. He played in the Texas holdem tournaments on weekends at the bar. He was a good conversationalist and had many friends. He drove the homeless, (some of them his close personal friends) around to do their errands, and always was very charitable with his time and money.
