Carroll "C.A." Olcott of Columbus died Saturday, December 11 at the Cottonwood House in Columbus.

Carroll "C.A." Olcott was born March 23, 1923 in Columbus to Jesse and Clara (Ernst) Olcott. His early years were spent on the family farm west of LoneStar. He lived and attended schools in Platte County, Loup City, and in Cheyenne, WY. During World War II, Carroll was in the US Navy Seabees in the South Pacific on Tinian and the Mariana Islands. He also served as a part of the occupational forces in Japan. Following the service he returned to Columbus. On January 15, 1947 he was united in marriage to June Dallegge in Garrison, NE. Carroll worked as a delivery man for the 7 UP Bottling Company before going to work at Meadow Gold Dairy where he worked as a route man and route supervisor for 35 years before retiring. During his retirement years, Carroll worked at the Columbus Races and at Phil Spady Chrysler.

Carroll represented the 3rd ward on the Columbus City Council for 3 terms and was a volunteer fireman with the Hook and Ladder Company. He was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ, lifetime member of the VFW Post 3704, Hartman Post #84 American Legion, and the Eagles Club. His hobbies included collecting antiques, gardening, traveling, and keeping abreast of current events.

Daughter Holly (Jim) Recek of Columbus
Grandchildren Matt Recek, Dan Recek, Cheri Olcott, and Steven Olcott
Great Grandchildren Jami and Alex Olcott
