Donald J. Week, age 52 of Columbus died Thursday, June 5, 2003 at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha. Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday June 10, 2003 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus with Reverend Richard Bringewatt officiating. Burial is in the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery with military honors by Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard. Visitation is 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Monday at McKown Funeral Home and 9:30 a.m. - service time Tuesday at the church. A Family Prayer Service will be held 10:15 a.m. Tuesday also at the church.

Donald J. Week was born November 10, 1950 in St. Edward, Nebraska to Inar and Evelyn (Jasa) Week. He graduated from St. Edward High School in 1970. Donald joined the U.S. Army in 1970. He served in the first Gulf War. On April 17, 1982 he was united in marriage to Barbara (Lentz) Bird at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lebanon, Missouri. The couple lived in Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri for a year before moving to Ft. Carson, Colorado. In 1985 they moved to Aschaffenburg, Germany until 1989 when they moved to Ft. Hood, Texas. Don served one year in Korea and then retired from military duty in November of 1993. His family moved to Columbus in November 1994. Don worked in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait through January 2003. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hartman Post #84 American Legion and enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and being with his family.

Brother: Jim Week of Overland Park, KS
Grandson: Andre Evans of Japan
Step Grandchildren: Ashley & Garrett Lickiss of Superior, WI

He was preceded in death by his parents
