Robert D. "Bob" Weber age 55 of Monroe, died Saturday; February 14, 2004 at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday; February 18, 2004 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Platte Center. The Rev. Rodney Kneifl will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in the Ss. Patrick/Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 4-8 p.m. at the church in Platte Center. A vigil will be held 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening also at the church. Visitation will continue Wednesday morning 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the church.
Robert D. Weber was born July 31, 1948 in Columbus, Nebraska to John and Dorothy ( Hughes) Weber. He received his early education in Monroe Public Schools and graduated from Monroe High in 1966. He attended college in Missouri Valley and Neddleton Computer School in Omaha. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1968-1970. He was married to Joan Jasper on November 7, 1970 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Platte Center. They continued to lived in Monroe. He worked at Middle State Manufacturing for a time and Lindsay Manufacturing for nearly 30 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Platte Center and was a member of the Monroe Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department where he had served as rescue chief. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid sports fan.
Bob is survived by his wife Joan of Monroe; Daughter: Lacy and Jason Jacobi of Monroe; Daughter: Krista and Brent Irish of Oklahoma City, OK; Son: John of Monroe; sister: Yvonne Groteluschen of Evergreen, CO; and 3 grandsons: Ryan Jacobi, Blaine Jacobi and Derek Irish. He was preceded in death by his parents.
