Alcus "Al" Warren, age 79, of Columbus,Nebraska died Friday, November 5, 2004 at Columbus Community Hospital. Services are 11:00 am Tuesday, November 9,2004 at the Word of Life Church in Columbus with Reverend Don Owen officiating. Visitation is on Monday from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at the Word of Life Church and on Tuesday from 10:00 am until service time, also at the church.
Alcus "Al" Warren was born March 2, 1925 in Columbia, Mississippi to William Whit & Effie (Carter) Warren. He grew up in Columbia and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Husbandry from Mississippi State University and his teaching certification from Tulane University. He served in the US Navy as a Corpman on the hospital ship "Haven" from 1943 - 1946 during WWII. He married Alice Randolph on June 16, 1951 in Starkville, MS. Al was a math & science teacher at Biloxi High School in Biloxi, MS before moving to Cayucos, CA in 1962 where he taught at Cayucos Grammar School. He moved to Oxnard, CA in 1968 where he also taught in school. Later on he owned and operated a dog grooming business in Ventura, CA. After relocating to Starkville, MS he was a Vet Tech at Mississippi State University School of Veterinary Medicine. Al moved to Columbus in 1984. He was a member of the Word of Life Church and enjoyed gardening, quilting, and birdwatching.
