Alta L. "Lee" Titman, 82, of Columbus died Monday June 18, 2001 at Genoa Long Term Care. Funeral services are 10:30 am Thursday June 21 at the First United Methodist Church in Columbus with the Rev. Gary Main officiating. The graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday at the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday at McKown Funeral Home from 4-8 pm and on Thursday from 9:30 am until service time at the Church.
Alta Titman was born September 19, 1918 to Lester J. and Frances M. (Johnson) Caulkins on the farm in Aurora, NE. She grew up in Aurora and attended rural schools where she graduated in 1936, where she was valedictorian of her class. She was awarded a 2 year scholarship at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she majored in Latin. She taught 2 years at a rural school in Hamilton County. She then worked 4 years for a laywer named Adams in Aurora. She married Leonard Titman on November 19, 1943 in Colorado. Following her husbands time in the service, she moved to Hastings where she worked in a State office. She then moved to Columbus in 1956. Worked for R.W. Beck & Associates for 25 years, (21 years in Columbus and 4 years in Minneapolis). In 1981 she retired and returned to Columbus.
She was a member of the Prairie Gem Church in Aurora and was a 46 year member of the First United Methodist Church in Columbus. She was also a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star. She loved to play bingo and watch the Huskers.

She is preceded in death by:
Her husband Leonard, her parents, an infant son, and two brother-in-laws, Raymond Ransom and Bernard Titman.
