James "Jim" Rankin, 62, of Columbus died Tuesday, September 14, 2004 at Columbus Community Hospital. Memorial services with military honors by Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard are 1:00 pm Friday at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus with the Rev. Joseph A. Miksch officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 12 Noon until service time at the funeral home.
James Rankin was born June 13, 1942 in Denver, CO to Edgar "Chief" & Vernell (Kissell) Rankin. He moved to Columbus where he attended Kramer High School. He entered the US Navy where he served from 1959-1963. He worked for Hinky Dinky in Columbus and Lincoln as a meat cutter before retiring and moving back to Columbus. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He enjoyed bookkeeping and sports.

He is preceded in death by his father, Edgar "Chief" Rankin.
