Beverly M. Schroeder, age 85, of Clarkson formerly of Columbus, Nebraska died Saturday, March 24, 2007 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus with Reverend David Fulton officiating. Visitation is 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation continues Wednesday morning from 8:00 - 10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. Burial is in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery with military honors by Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard.

Beverly M. Schroeder was born August 15, 1921 in Columbus, Nebraska to James L. and Madeline (Dischner) Rich. She attended St. Bonaventure grade school and graduated from St. Bonaventure High School in 1939. She then continued her education at Creighton University Hospital School of Nursing. After graduation, Beverly enlisted in the Army Nurse Corps and served in the Pacific during WWII on the hospital ship "Marigold". She traveled to the Philippines and later to occupied Japan where she served at the 42nd General Hospital in Tokyo as a 1st Lieutenant. After leaving the service, Beverly worked in obstetrics at St. Mary's Hospital in Columbus. She married Francis L. Schroeder on June 11, 1949 at St. Bonaventure Church in Columbus.

Beverly was very active in Republican Party politics, serving as Platte County Co-Chairman, serving on the State Central Committee, and Executive Committee. She served as State Co-Chairman from 1972 - 1975. She was a life member of the Hartman Post #84 American Legion and the V.F.W. #3704. Her hobbies included collecting antiques, gardening, reading and being with her family and friends.

She is survived by:

Daughter: Mary Frances (Dale) Novak of Clarkson, NE
Grandchildren: Patrick Rea of Lawrence, KS; Harmony Rea of Lincoln, NE; Rachel and Sydney Novak both of Clarkson, NE
Sister: Mary Ellen Porter of Omaha, NE
