Charles J. Podraza, age 89, of Columbus, died Sunday, April 22, 2007 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Isidore Catholic Church. The Rev. Joseph Miksch will officiate. Visitation is Tuesday 5-7 p.m. at the McKown Funeral Home. There will be a 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening vigil service. Visitation will continue Wednesday morning 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Hartman Post #84 Honor Guard.
Charles J. Podraza was born February 5, 1918 in Columbus, Nebraska to John C. and Mary (Murray) Podraza. He lived his entire life in Columbus. He received his education at St. Anthony's School. He served in the United States Army during WWII from 1942 until 1945. Upon his return to Columbus he farmed at the family farm located on Shady Lake Road until his retirement in 1980. He enjoyed playing cards at Glur's, fishing and gardening.
