Marion "Dusty" Peterson, age 77, of Columbus died Saturday March 31, 2001 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2001at the St. Anthony Catholic Church with the Rev. Christopher Grimmond officiating. Burial will be at St. Bonaventure Catholic Cemetery will military honors by Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard. Vistation will be held Monday 4-8 p.m. at the McKown Funeral Home. A vigil will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home Monday evening.
Dusty was born October 19, 1923 in Spalding, Nebraska to Augusta & Ina Pearl (Dallegge) Peterson.
Dusty graduated from High School in Petes, Colorado.
He married Elizabeth "Betty" Marsolek on October 30, 1948 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus, Nebraska. He served in the US Navy from May 1943 until 1946. Dusty served aboard the carrier US Nehanta Bay CVE 74 for 18 months in the South Pacific. He lived in Sterling, Colorado until 1950 when he moved to Columbus where he has lived since. Dusty worked for the City of Columbus, HyVee, Becton-Dickinson, and drove a limo. Dusty was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, life member of The Knights of Columbus Council #9264, life member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #3704 and a member of Eagles Aerie #1834.
