Marilyn M. Obrist age 79 of Columbus died Sunday, November 27, 2005 at the Beverly Health Care in Columbus. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church in Columbus. The Rev. Bill Ritter will officiate. Visitation is Tuesday 3-8 p.m. at the McKown Funeral Home and Wednesday morning 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Palestine Cemetery in rural Lindsay, Nebraska. Pallbearers are Dan Ziegler, Brian Ditter, Brent Ditter, John Obrist Jr., Mike Ziegler, Roger Obrist, Ben Obrist IV, Mark Obrist.

Marilyn M. Obrist was born February 17, 1926 in Platte County, Nebraska to John and Marjorie (Korns) Reitz. She received her education in St. Edward. She married Ben M. Obrist Jr. on December 22, 1941 in Albion, Nebraska. They lived and farmed north of Monroe until 1964 when they moved to Columbus. Along with raising her family, she worked at Becton Dickinson for 20 years before her retirement. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and Becton Dickinson Alumni Association. She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed sewing and baking for her family and friends.

Marilyn is survived by: Daughter: Sandra (Jay) Ditter of Norfolk, NE; Daughter: Sharon (Gary) Ziegler of Monroe, NE; Son: Ben Obrist III of Oklahoma City, OK; Son: John L. (Myra) Obrist of Columbus, NE; Son: Tom (Trish) Obrist of Lincoln, NE; Daughter: Sue Obrist of McKinney, TX; Brother: Gene (Pat) Reitz of Juanita, NE; 16 Grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren

She was preceded in death by: Husband: Ben M. Obrist Jr.; Father: John Reitz; Mother: Marjorie Reitz; Daughter-In-Law: Jane Obrist; Brother: Emery Reitz; Sister: Clintena King; Granddaughter: Sara Obrist; Twin Grandsons: Gregory & Scott Obrist; 4 - Great Grandchildren
