Edward Iwan, age 84, of Duncan, Nebraska died Thursday, October 5, 2006 at the Birchwood Manor in North Bend, Nebraska. Funeral Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Duncan with Reverend Frank Jindra and Reverend Joseph A. Miksch officiating. Visitation is after 5:00 p.m. Monday with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service at St. Stanislaus Church. Visitation continues Tuesday morning from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. also at the church. Following the services, Ed's body will be donated to the State Anatomical Board and Creighton University for research. Memorials may be directed to the Platte County Historical Society. Edward A. Iwan was born July 8, 1922 in Polk County, Nebraska to Charles and Mary (Gonka) Iwan. He married Darlien Karges on May 24, 1948 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Duncan, Nebraska. Ed farmed for 25 years before being employed as a sheet metal worker at Metalcrafters in Columbus until retiring in 1984. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Church, Holy Name Society and the Platte County Historical Society. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, gardening, cooking, canoeing, reading, collecting cactus and finding Indian artifacts. He is survived by: Daughter: Stephanie (Maynard) Iwan
