In Memory of Jolene Topil

Jolene Topil, 67, of Rising City died Friday, November 3 at the Good Samaritan Center in Osceola.  Funeral services are 10:30 am Tuesday at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus.  Visitation is on Monday from 5-7 pm and continues on Tuesday from 9:30 am until service time, also at the funeral home. There will lunch served at the Eagle's Club in Columbus immediately following the service at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday at Circle Mound Cemetery in Rising City.

Jolene Topil was born September 19, 1939 in Shelby, Nebraska to Lorney and Davise (Perry) Shunk.  She grew up in Rising City before moving to Julesburg, Colorado when she was 16.  Jolene graduated from Julesburg High School in 1957.  On December 20, 1958 she was united in marriage to Tom Topil in Rising City.  Jolene worked at Wards in Columbus for 15 years before owning and operating Topil's IGA in Rising City with her husband until 1984.  Jolene then went to work at Didier's Grocery in David City as the produce manager.   She retired in December of 2004.  Jolene enjoyed going to the car and horse races, fishing, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
