In Memory of Francis J. "Frank " Micek

Frank J. Micek, age 79, of Columbus died Thursday, May 25, 2006 at his home in Columbus. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus. The Rev. Del Lape will officiate. Burial with  military honors by American Legion Hartman Post #84 Honor Guard will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday after 4:00 p.m. at the Church. A vigil will be held Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. also at the church. Visitation will continue Wednesday morning 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church

Frank was born September 14, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan to Barney and Dora (Staroscik) Micek. He received his education at St. Anthony Grade School, St. Francis Academy and received his diploma from St. Bonaventure School, now Scotus High School. He married Rita Widhalm on August 16, 1949 in Tarnov, Nebraska. Frank served in the United States Navy during WWII from 1944-1946. He was stationed at  Okinawa  where he piloted a Higgins Boat. He worked as federal grain inspector, rural postal carrier and owned and operated Miceks Bar and The Avenue Bar and Cafe until his retirement in 2005. He enjoyed camping, traveling, hunting, shooting pool, politics and spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother Chester Micek.
