In Memory of Vera Beck

Vera Beck, 74, of Columbus died Monday, January 23, 2006 at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha.  Funeral services are 11:00 am Friday, January 27, 2006 at St. Isidore Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph A. Miksch officiating.  Visitation is on Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at McKown Funeral Home with a Vigil service at 7:00 pm, also at the funeral home.  Visitation continues on Friday morning from 9:00 -10:30 am at McKown Funeral Home.  Interment is in the Osceola Cemetery. 

Vera Beck was born January 27, 1931 in Shelby, Nebraska to Julius and Alberta (Glaubitz) Cerny. She received her early education in rural Polk County Schools and graduated from Osceola High School in 1948. She continued her education at Nebraska Christian College where she received her teachers certificate. Vera taught in Polk County rural schools and nursery school in Clarks for several years. Vera married Walter Beck on October 13, 1955 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Silver Creek. They lived in Clarks from 1955 until 1985 when they moved to Columbus.  She also worked at Behlen Manufacturing Cafeteria and K-T Yogurt Shop. She was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church and the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She had quilted with the St. Isidore ladies for the past 17 years and was their current president. Vera enjoyed spending time with her family, camping and baking.
