Evelyn Kudryk

Evelyn Kudryk, age 79, of Columbus,
Nebraska died Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at Beverly Health Care in
Columbus. Funeral Services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 21,
2006 at Federated Church in Columbus with Rev. Don Wilson
officiating. Visitation is Friday from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. at the McKown
Funeral Home and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the
church.
Evelyn Kudryk was born October 5,
1926, in Fremont, Nebraska to Ernest and Bertha (Witt) Diedrichsen. She
grew up on a farm in rural Fremont and graduated from Fremont High
School in 1943. She attended college for one year at Mount Saint Clare
in Clinton, Iowa. She married George Sommermeyer on July 28, 1945. They
divorced in March of 1962. She married Wasyl Kudryk on January 29, 1977, at Federated
Church in Columbus. Evelyn worked a variety of jobs, including as
a secretary for the law firm of Walter, Albert, Leininger, Grant, and
Rogers, manager of the Dale Electronics Credit Union and bookkeeper for the New World Inn and Roth Construction.
She was a member of Federated Church in Columbus for 50 years. Her
service to the church included being active in Women's Fellowship and
the Order of St. Andrew, serving on the Governing Council, singing in
the choir, and teaching Sunday school. She was also a member of Beta
Sigma Phi Sorority through which she developed many treasured
friendships. She enjoyed reading, doing needle work, working puzzles,
square dancing, playing cards,
camping, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include husband Wasyl; daughter Jean (Jack Farber) Sommermeyer
of Arlington, Massachusetts; daughter Mary (Earl Kramer) Sommermeyer of
Lincoln; and granddaughter JoAnne Kramer of Grand Island; son Mark
(Deborah Dunster) Sommers of Alameda, California; and granddaughter
Emily Dunster-Farey of Alameda, California; son Dave Sommermeyer of
Tarnov; step-daughter Katie (Paul) Tworek of Scottsdale, Arizona; and
step-grandchildren Andr'e, Shelby, and Tiffany Tworek of Scottsdale,
Arizona; and step-great granddaughter Alexxis Warrington of Scottsdale; Arizona;
brother Allen (Eleanor) Diedrichsen of Mankato, Minnesota; brother Lloyd
(Phyllis) Diedrichsen of Sparks, Nevada; sister-in-law Margaret
Diedrichsen of Fremont; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and former
sisters-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Orville and
Stanley, and a son John Michael.
