Elizabeth "Betty" Van Dyke

 

Elizabeth "Betty" Van Dyke, 97, of Madison, formerly of Columbus, died Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at the Countryside Home in Madison.  Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 am Saturday at St. Isidore Catholic Church.  Visitation is on Friday from 5-7 pm at St. Isidore's with a Vigil service at 7 pm, also at the church.  Visitation continues Saturday morning from 9-10 am at St. Isidore Church.  Interment is in Roselawn Cemetery.

Elizabeth, daughter of Gerhard and Sophie (Roufs) Geilenkirchen, was born on September 2, 1908, on a farm northwest of Lindsay.  Elizabeth attended Holy Family School in Lindsay.  She lived in Lindsay, Silver Creek, and Columbus areas all of her life.

On April 23, 1935, Elizabeth married Leo Van Dyke at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lindsay.  The couple farmed and were loving parents to six children.  After moving to Columbus, Elizabeth worked at Becton-Dickinson for 10 years.

Elizabeth, most recently, was a parishioner of St. Isidore Catholic Church and a member of the Christian Mothers.

She is survived by her children:
