In Memory of Marcella F. Briggs

Marcella F. Briggs, age 93, of Columbus, Nebraska died Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at Beverly Health Care in Columbus.  Funeral Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2005 at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus with Reverend Joseph A. Miksch officiating.  Burial is in the Columbus Cemetery.  Visitation is 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Sunday with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service at McKown Funeral Home.  Visitation continues Monday morning from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home.

Marcella F. Briggs was born February 11, 1912 in Columbus, Nebraska to Paul and Bertha (Heibel) Roth. She graduated from Kramer High School in 1930. She married Gus Miller on March 29, 1931 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She lived in Crescent City, California where they owned Millers Fountain News before returning to Columbus in 1958. Gus died December 20, 1967. She later married Louis Briggs on February 15, 1969 at St. Bonaventure Church in Columbus.  He died May 21, 2000. Marcella managed the Montgomery Ward shoe department until her retirement. She was a member of St. Isidore Church, Christian Mothers, Eagles Club, V.F.W. #3704 and a Charter Member of the National Association of Soda Jerks. Marcella enjoyed bowling, playing cards, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.
