Edward Oppliger, 85, of Columbus died Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at Beverly Health Care in Columbus. Funeral services are 10:30 am Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Columbus with the Rev. Bill Ritter officiating. Visitation is on Sunday from 4-7 pm at McKown Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00 pm, also at the funeral home. Vistation continues Monday morning from 9:30 am until service time at the church. Interment is in St. Bonaventure Cemetery with Military Honors by Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice. Edward Oppliger was born August 25, 1919 in Columbus to Ernest & Louise (Winkelman) Oppliger. He served in the US Army Air Corp as a Staff Sgt. from 1942-1946 during World War II. He married Edna Homan on April 5, 1948 in Bellwood, Nebraska. Edward farmed south of Columbus. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Columbus and Hartman Post #84 American Legion. He enjoyed bowling, travel & playing cards. He is survived by:
