Emma Turek, age 84 of Omaha formerly of Columbus died Friday, July 29, 2005 at Immanuel Fontenelle Home. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the McKown Funeral Home. Pastor Jim McGaffin will officiate. Visitation is Monday 2-8 p.m. and Tuesday 8-10 a.m. all at the funeral home. Burial will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials are directed to the families choice. Emma R. Turek was born March 13, 1921
in Geneva, Nebraska to Anton and Anna (Menke) Voss. She received her
education in the Carleton, Nebraska area. She worked as a bookkeeper in
Hutchinson, Kansas before her marriage to Louis J. Turek on June 12,
1943 at Camp Roberts, California. Emma lived in Hastings while her
husband was in the service. They then moved to Columbus where Emma
worked as a practical nurse, was a waitress at the Nite and Day Cafe,
owned and operated Cornhusker Credit and Collection with her husband and
worked as a dispatcher for the Columbus Police Department. Following
Louis' death on October 19, 1975 she moved to Omaha in 1982. She then
moved to Hastings where she lived until 1996 when she returned to Omaha.
Emma was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary and the V.F.W. #3704
Auxiliary. Emma also was a graph analyst. Emma is survived by: Daughter Jackie (John) Caldwell of
