Norbert J. Pinger age 83 of Columbus died Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2005 at St. Isidore Catholic Church. The Rev. Joseph Miksch will officiate. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday with a vigil at 8:00 p.m. all at the church. Visitation will continue Friday morning 8-10 a.m. at McKown Funeral Home. Burial with military honors by American Legion Hartman Post #84 Honor Guard will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Isidore Building Fund or the American Cancer Society. Norbert J. Pinger was born November 1, 1921 in St. Bernard, Nebraska to Edward and Clara (Backes) Pinger. He received his education at St. Bernard and Lindsay. Norbert served in the United States Marines Corp as a TECH SGT. during World War II from June 10, 1942 to October 24, 1945. He served in the South Pacific Theatre and was involved in the Battle at Midway. Norbert married Edomina (Eddy) Torczon on June 12, 1943 in El Centro, California. They returned to the Tarnov area after the war, where he farmed. In 1988 they moved into Columbus. He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Holy Name, V.F.W. Post #3704 and American Legion Hartman Post #84. Norbert is survived by:
