In Memory of Katherine Shemek Paczosa

Katherine L. Paczosa age 81 of Columbus died Fiday; January 21, 2005 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the St. Anthony Catholic Church. The Rev. Del Lape will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Duncan. Visitation is 5-8 pm Monday at St. Anthony Church. A vigil service will be held at 7:00 pm Monday evening at the church. Visitation will continue Tuesday from 12:00 noon until 1:30 p.m. at the McKown Funeral Home.

Katherine L. Paczosa was born January 9, 1924 in Bellwood, Nebraska to Frank and Irene (Grant) Gunderson. She grew up in Bellwood and graduated from Bellwood High School in 1942. She worked as a waitress for many years at various locations including Billies Cafe, Kuhn Cafe, Cartas and Tooley Drug Store.
Katherine was married to Charles Helm in 1942. Charles was killed in the D-Day invasion of Normandy. She married Henry "Buzz" Shemek in 1948. Buzz died in 1967. In 1971 Katherine married Valerian Paczosa in Fullerton, Nebraska. They lived in Duncan until 1994 when they moved into Columbus. She was a member of St. Anthony Church and past member of St. Stanislaus in Duncan. She was an avid Husker Football fan and enjoyed horse racing.
