Francis J. "Fritz" Wozny,
age 79, of Columbus, Nebraska died Thursday, September 2, 2004 at the
Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral Services are 10:30 am
Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus with
the Rev. Douglas Zurek officiating. Visitation is on Monday from
5:00 - 8:00 pm at McKown Funeral Home and on Tuesday from 9:30 until
service time at the Church. There will be a family prayer service
at 10:15 am Tuesday, also at the Church. Interment is in Columbus
Cemetery with Military Honors by Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor
Guard. Memorials may be directed to the families choice.
Francis J. "Fritz" Wozny was born
March 7, 1925 in Genoa, Nebraska to Alex and Emma (Cuba) Wozny.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII overseas in the European Theater
of Operations as a Scout Sergeant from March 1943 - December 1946. He
married Miriam (Kruse) Shunk in 1976 in St. Louis, Missouri. Fritz
worked overseas several years in construction and installation of
communications equipment until he retired due to injuries received in a
helicopter accident in Peru. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church,
Hartman Post #84 American Legion, Life Member of the V.F.W. #3704, and
the Eagles Club.
He is survived by:

Daughter: JoAnn Kaiser of Franklin, TN
Son: Mike (Lynn) Wozny of Phoenix, AZ
Step-Daughter: Norma Mayer of Grant, NE
Step-Daughter: Marilyn Griffiths of Honolulu, HI
Step-Daughter: Gaylene (Benny) Thelen of Loveland, CO
Step-Son: Tom (Julee) Shunk of Lincoln, NE
Brother: Philip (Barbara) Wozny of Cambridge, MD
Sister-in-law: Kathryn Wozny of Omaha, NE
