In Memory of Leo Janicek
Leo Janicek, 101, of Bellwood died Sunday, October 31, 2004 at David Place in David City. Funeral services are 11:00 am Wednesday, November 3, 2004 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Bellwood with the Rev. Jeremy Hazuka officiating. Visitation is on Tuesday from 2-4 pm at McKown Funeral Home & after 6 pm Tuesday at St. Peter's with a vigil service at 7 pm, also at the church in Bellwood. Visitation continues Wednesday morning from 9:30 am until service time at the church. Interment is in St. Peter & Mary Cemetery in rural Bellwood. Memorials maybe directed to St. Peter's Church Building Fund, Aquinas High School or the Donors Choice.
Leo Janicek was born July 19, 1903 in Bellwood to
Adolph & Lucy (Seburger) Janicek. He grew up in Butler County and
attended District 41 schools. He married Loretta Schmit on April 7, 1926
at Presentation Parish in Bellwood. Leo farmed the home place from 1927
- 1960 then moved to town in 1963 before moving to David Place for the
previous 8 years. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in
Bellwood where he held various church offices, the Knights of Columbus,
School Board, CO-OP in Bellwood, and was appointed town judge.
He is Survived By:
Son Gerald (LaVetta) Janicek of Bellwood, NE
12 Grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren.
He is Preceded in Death By:
Wife Loretta Janicek
