Drexel "Andy" Engel, age 79, of Silver Creek, Nebraska died Monday, March 8, 2004 at Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral Services are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday March 10, 2004 at the United Methodist Church in Silver Creek with Reverend Bev Minor officiating. Burial will be in the Jackson Cemetery in Duncan with military honors by American Legion Post #263 Silver Creek. Visitation is from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Drexel "Andy" Engel was born November 29, 1924 in Platte County, Nebraska to Frederick and Bertha (Johansen) Engel. He grew up in Silver Creek and graduated from Duncan High School. Andy served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1950-1952. On September 26, 1953 he was united in marriage to Donna Faye Wyman in Silver Creek. Andy was a farmer/rancher in Merrick County and Craig County, Oklahoma. He also was a horse trainer and a cattle buyer for Swift Packing Company. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Silver Creek and served on the Pastoral Committee. He was a member of the American Legion and the Horseman Breeders Professional Association.
