In Memory of Benjamin L. Ciboron

Benjamin L. Ciboron, age 80, of Maybee, MI died Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at his home in Maybee.  Services are 10:00 am Saturday, December 11, 2004 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Platte Center.  Visitation is on Friday from 5:00-7:00 pm at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus.  There will be a Vigil service at 7:00 pm, also at the funeral home.  Visitation will continue from 9:00 am until service time on Saturday at St. Joseph Church in Platte Center.  Interment will be in Ss. Patrick/Joseph Cemetery in rural Platte Center with Military Honors by Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard.

Benjamin Ciboron was born February 23, 1924 in Genoa, Nebraska to Frank and Mary (Chowek) Ciboron. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from June 1944 - May 1946.  He received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Ribbon and the WWII Victory Medal. Following his discharge he lived and farmed in the Platte Center area before traveling with M. H. Van Berg and later with Jack Van Berg as a horse trainer. He then settled in Michigan where he established the Sacred Winds Thoroughbred Farm in Maybee, Michigan . Bennie had a great love for his family, horses, and the Sacred Winds Thoroughbred Farm.

Bennie is survived by a faithful and loving foster son of 30 years, Alexander Ilicin, Jr. and his wife Bonnie. He had three wonderful granddaughters with their spouses; Jami Edmunds, Jo & Jon Meads, Jessi & Ryan Schueler. He also had three great granddaughters which he considered the "apples of his eye"; Alexis Edmunds 8, Jodi Meads 5 and Jade 2. One admiring cowboy great grandson Steven Lossing 2. He is also survived by his brother Frank Ciboron, Jr. of Columbus, nieces and nephews, and his faithful friend, hunting partner and co-grandfather Earl Cordes.
He was preceded by his parents, brothers Clem and Leonard Ciboron and sister Helen Jarecki.
