Joseph Timms, age 74, of Columbus, Nebraska died Tuesday September 2, 2003 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the McKown Funeral Home in Columbus. The Rev. Joseph Miksch will officiate. Visitation is Saturday from 8-10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in David City. Joseph William Timms was born March 20, 1929 in David City, Nebraska to James Brittain and Helen Barbara (Kozisek) Timms. He grew up on a farm in the David City area where he attended public school. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from July 12, 1952 until March 24, 1954. Joe embraced hard work. He worked as a painter for many years. Riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle was his passion. He was the oldest living member of the American Veterans Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing.
