In Memory of Donald R. Gill
Donald R. Gill, age 86 of Columbus died Thursday; September 25, 2003 at the Veterans Home in Grand Island, Nebraska. Funeral services are 1:30 p.m. Monday; September 29, 2003 at the McKown Funeral Home in Columbus, Nebraska. The Rev. Bill Ritter will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday 2-5 p.m. at the McKown Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Monday morning 8:00 am until service time. Burial will be in the Blue Valley Cemetery in Surprise, Nebraska with military honors by American Legion Hartman Post #84 Honor Guard. Donald Richard Gill was born June 14, 1917 in Surprise, NE to G. Edward and Edith (Coleman) Gill. He attended Cottonwood Country School and Surprise High School. Following his time in the service, he owned and operated a trucking business in Detroit and worked construction in the Chicago area before moving back to Surprise in 1963 where he was employed by the Butler County Road Department. He moved to Columbus where he went to work at Douglas & Lomason. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Columbus, Eagles Aerie #1834, Masonic Lodge #81 AF & AM in Rising City and AARP. He was a life member of the American Legion Hartman Post #84 and VFW Post #3704 in Columbus. Donald is survived by: Brother
