Arthur Pillen, 71, of Platte Center died Friday, November 28, 2003 at Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral services are 10:00 am Monday, December 1, 2003 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Platte Center with the Rev. Rod Kneifl officiating. Visitation begins on Sunday after 5 pm at St. Joseph's Church in Platte Center. There will be a Vigil service at 7:00 pm Sunday, also at the church. Visitation continues Monday morning from 9 am until service time at the church. Interment is in the Ss. Patrick/Joseph Cemetery in rural Platte Center with military honors by American Legion Post #283. Arthur Pillen was born June 15, 1932 in Platte County to Henry and Gunda (Melcher) Pillen. He graduated from Platte Center High School in 1950. Art married Elverine Foltz on October 7, 1953 at St. Joseph's Church in Platte Center. Art served in the US Army during the Korean War. He returned to the Platte Center area where he farmed and fed livestock. He enjoyed football games and playing cards. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he served on the school board, church council, ushered, and was also a cantor. He was a member of American Legion Post #283 and the Farm & Home CO-OP Board. He is survived by: Wife Elverine
