William W. Sprunk, Jr., 81, of Platte Center died Monday, October 21, 2002 at Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral services are 10:00 am Thursday, October 24 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Platte Center with the Rev. Rod Kneifl officiating. Visitation will begin on Wednesday from 3-5 pm at McKown Funeral Home and continue after 6 pm at St. Joseph Church in Platte Center with a Vigil service at 7:30 pm,. also at the church. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 9 am until service time at the church. Interment will be in Ss. Patrick/Joseph Cemetery in Rural Platte Center. William W. Sprunk was born December 13, 1920 in Platte County, Nebraska to William and Clare (Beierle) Sprunk. He attended Platte County District #3. He farmed with his father before entering the U.S. Army in 1942. He served in the Pacific Theatre. He was united in marriage to Betty Jazwick on October 4, 1942 in Dotham, Alabama. Upon his discharge in 1945 he returned to Platte Center where he farmed until retiring. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Platte Center where he served as as Usher and Church Trustee and was also a member of Parry Post #283 American Legion in Platte Center.
