In Memory of Herbert L. Deden
Herbert L. Deden, 90, of Columbus died Tuesday May 21, 2002 at Columbus Manor. Services are 10:00 am Friday May 24 at Peace Lutheran Church in Columbus with Rev. Michael V. Klatt and Rev. Ernest G. Smith officiating. Visitation will on Friday from 9:00 am until service time at the Church. Interment will be in Columbus Cemetery with Military Honors by Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard. Memorials are suggested to Peace Lutheran Church. Herbert L. Deden was born November 30, 1911 in Seward County, Nebraska to Albert and Minnie (Brandt) Deden. He moved with his family to Phillips Co., Colorado in 1921. He remained in Colorado where he worked for various farmers until he was drafted into the US Army in 1942. He served in the military and spent most of his active duty time in India. He was discharged on December 29, 1945. He returned to Phillips and Sedgwick counties in Colorado and after the death of his brother Dave in 1949 he helped his sister-in-law on the farm. In 1958 he moved to Pleasant Dale, NE to help care for his ailing father Albert. He and his mother Minnie moved to Columbus where he spent 18 years working for Behlen Manufacturing Company before retiring in 1977. Herb had lived at Prairie Village for 4 years before entering the Columbus Manor. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Columbus. He is survived by: Sister-in-law Katherine Deden Albion,
