Celia Wass

Celia Wass, age 103 of Omaha, formerly of Columbus, died Friday; July 5, 2002 in Omaha. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony Catholic Church with the Rev. Christopher Grimond officiating. Burial will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday 3-6 p.m. with a 5:00 p.m. vigil all at the funeral home. Visitation will continue Friday morning 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Celia Wass was born September 12, 1898 in Columbus, Nebraska to Anton and Mary Ann (Dula) Wass. She was the youngest child of ten. She received her elementary education at St. Anthony School and later attended St. Francis Academy. For the first 90 years of her life, she lived at 1221 3rd Street in Columbus. She has since resided in Omaha. While in Columbus she raised chickens, sold eggs and had a flower and vegetable garden. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church where she sang in the choir.
