Willard "Bud" Griffiths

Willard "Bud" Griffiths, age 63 of Columbus, died Monday; January 21, 2002 at the University Hospital in Omaha. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Friday; January 25, 2002 at the First United Methodist Church in Columbus. The Rev. Gary Main will officiate. Burial will be in the Columbus Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday 4-8 p.m. at the McKown Funeral Home and Friday 9:30 a.m. until service time  at the church.

Willard "Bud" Griffiths was born December 3, 1938 in Columbus, Nebraska to Thomas and Grace (Davis) Griffiths. He received his education at Kramer High in Columbus, Nebraska. On October 31, 1959 he married Fran Sweenie at the Highland Park Evangelical Free Church in Columbus. They lived in Iowa for a short time before returning to Columbus where they have lived since. Bud owned and operated Griffiths By Products until 1980 when he began driving for a mail contractor. In 1987 he began working for Dizco Mail Contracting. He worked there until 1996 when he retired. Bud was a member of the First United Methodist Church for over 60 years. He enjoyed baseball and was coached several youth baseball teams over the years.  Bud was currently a co-owner of Fran's Ceramics with his wife.
