Margaret E. Smets, age 60, of rural Leigh, Nebraska died Tuesday February 5, 2002 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, Nebraska.  Funeral Services are 10:00 a.m. Friday February 8, 2002 at McKown Funeral Chapel in Columbus, Nebraska with Reverend Gary Main officiating.  Visitation is from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Thursday and from 8:00 a.m. until service time Friday all at the funeral home.  Graveside Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday at the Broken Bow Cemetery in Broken Bow, Nebraska.

Margaret Ellen Smets was born August 18, 1941 in Hastings, Nebraska to Frank & Verna (Daily) Hulme. On July 11, 1960 she married Thomas D. Smets in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She moved to the Columbus area in 1975. She was a homemaker. She was a past member of the Eagles Auxiliary and the Circle Squares Square Dance Club.

Sister: Frances (Walter) Moore of Central City, NE
Nine Grandchildren and One Great Grandson
