Robert Keener

Robert Keener, 69, of Norfolk formerly of Columbus, died Wednesday November 14, 2001at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.  Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday; November 17, 2001 at the McKown Funeral Home in Columbus. The Rev. Joseph Miksch will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Leigh Cemetery.

Robert  was born May 13, 1932 in Sylva, North Carolina to Abraham and Berdell (Cope) Keener. He followed the rodeo circuit to Aksarben in Omaha, Nebraska. On March 11, 1967 he married Beverly Sohl in Columbus, Nebraska. He worked for 17 years at Behlen Manufacturing where he received the Million Mile Drivers Safety Award in 1989. In 1991 he retired from Behlens.  He enjoyed horse racing, blue grass and country music and western movies. For many years he cut and sold firewood to area residents.
