Alouis "Louie" Kubicek, age 85, of Columbus died Wednesday; November 7, 2001 at David Place in David City, Nebraska. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday; November 10, 2001 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus, Nebraska. Burial with military honors by Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday 3-8 p.m. at the McKown Funeral Home. A Vigil will be held at 7:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Visitation will continue Saturday morning from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Alouis R. "Louie" Kubicek was born
August 18, 1916 in Valparaiso, NE to John and Millie (Novak) Kubicek. He
was raised in Polk County and attended District 9 school there. He
worked as a farm hand and at Montgomery Wards before being drafted into
the US Army on November 7, 1941. He served in the 3rd Armored Division
serving in the European Theater where he earned the Purple Heart, Oak
Leaf Cluster, and 5 Battle Stars. Louie was discharged from the service
on January 25, 1946. He married Othelia Matya on September
14, 1942 in Columbus. He was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic
Church, Life member of Hartman Post #84 American Legion, life member of
the VFW Post #3704, and life member of the Disabled American Veterans
where he was past commander. He was a member of the 3rd Armored Division
Association. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and checkers. He is survived by: Wife:
