In Memory of Larry A. Jarecke

Larry A. Jarecke, 65, of Columbus died Saturday, July 21 at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha. Funeral services are 10:00 am Wednesday, July 25 at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus with the Rev. Joseph A. Miksch officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday at McKown Funeral Home from 3:00-8:00 pm with a Vigil service to be held at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 8-9:30 am at McKown Funeral Home. Burial will be at All Saints Cemetery in Columbus with Military Honors by Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard.

Larry was born in Fullerton, Nebraska to Harry & Minnie (Stopak) Jarecke on September 8, 1935. He graduated from Fullerton High School in 1953. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He married Jane Shanahan on April 27, 1963 in Dubuque, Iowa. He worked for GTE for 36 years in various communities in Iowa and Nebraska. He has lived in Columbus since 1973. Larry retired in 1994. He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church and Holy Name Society. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus Council #938 where he served as the Grand Knight. He was also a member of the Eagles Club and the VFW Post #3704 in Columbus. Larry continued to work part time at the Columbian Village. Larry enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking.

Although we could not bear to lose him
