Emil C. Kula

Emil C. Kula, age 80, of Bellwood, Nebraska died Friday; December 28, 2001 at David Place in David City, Nebraska.  Funeral Services are 10:00 a.m. Monday; December 31, 2001 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Bellwood, Nebraska. The Rev. Jeremy Hazuka will officiate. Burial will be in the Presentation Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 3-5 p.m. at the McKown Funeral Home in Columbus and after 6:30 p.m. at the Church. A vigil will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday also at the Church. Visitation will continue Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the Church.

Emil was born September 11, 1921 in Nance County, Nebraska to John and Ann (Shepoka) Kula. He received his early education at Nance County School #43. He then attended Fullerton High School.Emil served in the Civilian Conservation Corp prior to his enlistment in the Army. He served in the United States Army during WWII from September 10, 1942 until October 30, 1945. On January 15, 1947 he married Irene F. Lesiak at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Krakow. He farmed from 1948 until 1954 when he began working at the Co-op in Bellwood. He worked there for 18 years until his retirement in 1983.He also worked for several years for Van Berg Farms. He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Bellwood, American Legion #327 in Bellwood, and a life member of The VFW Post #3704 in Columbus . Emil had served on the Church and School boards for several years. He was a volunteer fireman for 12 years.
